The crib is complete, finally!

We are so happy with the way the crib has turned out. It looks so peaceful and beautiful that I want to crawl in there and take a nap myself! Brian did a great job putting it together.... most of the preparations are done now, so we just wait. Its very hard to not know when this will happen for us. We just have to be patient!!

The baby's room is very pleasant

Here are a couple of recent pictures of the baby's room. On the left, you can see the stroller that we bought- along with a blanket I have made for the baby! It has vintage fabric on one side, and very soft fuzzy fabric on the other side. Also, my mom is crazy about anything that has duckies on it- so here are some ducky things all ready to go! The painting is all done and we got a very cute rug at Ikea- that looks like a walnut. Right now we are waiting for a piece of the crib that needed to be replaced, and then we'll send a picture of that too. I have been keeping myself busy with making some arts and crafts projects for the room, like some artwork and a mobile for over the crib. Its very hard to wait, but we both love to come into this room and just hang out for a few minutes!

Spring is on the way

Just wanted to share a picture of our plum blossoms. We planted this tree in June- and this is its first season with us. The bloom of a plum tree is always so beautiful with its gentle pink blossoms.

A weekend away

For my dad's birthday this weekend we decided to head up the hill to the cabin for a couple of days. It wasn't super cold- but there was some snow on the ground while we were there. It looks like the little guest house is nearly finished- just adding some panelling and flooring. We can't wait to make it a regular trip- and bring the baby with us. I grew up making many trips to the mountains as a kid- and just love it up there.
As far as the baby room goes, we have painted and installed a chair railing around the room. We need to repaint the trim and then its kind of ready for the crib! It feels very good to be making progress!

Squirrels!!!!!!

Behold the wonderful gift from my fabulous friend Sally!!!!! I can't even believe that there are scapbooking materials with squirrels on them!!!!! Who would have believed it? For the record, I have been crazy about squirrels for several years now; trendsetter, not trend follower!!!
Sally, Luke and Addie came over on Saturday morning to see the new stroller and validated that we made a good choice. It goes without saying that we can't wait to put it in action.
I can't wait to put the baby album together, when it is our turn. We had such a wonderful Valentines weekend- working together on projects to get ready for the baby!

Big progress on the nursury!

Well, it doesn't look like much, but we did get the paint on the
walls! We still have to paint the trim and paint the chair rail,
but its definitely progress! We had a big day on friday, we went to the big Goore's sale and bought a stroller and a crib. Since we don't know when the baby will come, we want to plan ahead and be ready! We picked out a crib that will convert to a toddler bed, and then into a double sized bed later. It is kind of a "mission style" sleigh bed- and we just fell in love with it! The stroller we picked out will meet our needs perfectly. It starts out as a "pram style" and then converts later to a regular stroller.

We had a wonderful time at the baby store-- so many things to look at and to think about. I love the stroller- and I can jusst imagine us on daily walks in the neighborhood- I want to tell the baby all about my favorite trees and plants, meet my favorite neighbors and explore the world together. When I walk past the baby's room, I can't stop thinking about the future!

Parenting class

Here's Brian with the plastic baby! We had a 2 1/2 hour class last night at the hospital where we learned about feeding, washing, and changing the baby. Also learned lots of techniques for calming them and getting them to sleep. I am sure that all of that will come in handy! It may come as no surprise that Brian was very technical in his approach to the swaddling. He did it several times in a row, and practiced until it was perfect!
