On Saturday, January 31st, Brian and I handed in our paperwork for our adoption. This means that we are officially on the waiting list for our baby! It is a very exciting time for us, and we have a lot of work to do to get ready to be parents for the first time. After many bends in the road that we are taking to parenthood, we have decided to adopt a baby from Japan. We don't know exactly when we will get the phone call, it could be a couple of months or it could be a year. The Japan program with our agency is very unique and there are fewer than 20 families waiting to be matched with infants. We have submitted a "dear birthmother" letter and a photo album that we feel represents us... we hope(!) and it will be hand carried to Japan by a liason. Our liason "Taz" will work with the "bio moms" to make the perfect match. When the match is made, and the baby is born, we wil be notified by phone. At that point, we will need to get ready to travel to Japan within 3-4 weeks to pick up the baby. Our trip to Japan will be about 10-14 days-- WOW!
So at this point, we are just WAITING! it seems like we've been waiting for a long time already, so what's a few more months? We will be working on getting the baby's room ready, because time will be short once we get our call. We won't know if it is a boy or a girl until after the birth-- so we are making plans for gender neutral decorating! We have chosen two girl names and two boy names- the bio mom will choose the name for us. My mom is really hoping for twins-- so we'll see!
We are so excited to be at this point, and will try really hard to not bore everyone with our details!
Never a bore! We are so excited to see your family grow! You have been such wonderful influences in our children's lives- we look so forward to seeing this process through with you guys. There really aren't two people more deserving!! Congrats on the big step and we can't wait to hear more about it all. Lots of love and happy, happy wishes!!

Your adoption story is GREAT! Congratulations! Are you starting to take any Japanese lessons for your trip there? Are you going to share your name choices with us, or wait until the little one has arrived? Oooooohhh, I'm so excited for you two! Thanks so much for keeping us all posted, I was starting to wonder what was going on.

Is this what they call a "blog"??? Are you trying to drag me kicking and screaming into the digital age? I'm not even sure this "comment" will "post" or whatever.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations you two. You'll be the second best parents in the world soon I just know it!
